Donate Online

The easiest way to support the work of HOTT is to donate online.  Charitable tax receipt will be issued immediately by CanadaHelps.org on behalf of HOTT.

Securities / Mutual Funds

Donating securities or mutual funds directly to HOTT can maximize your donation because capital gains tax does not apply.

By donating publicly traded securities, donors eliminate the capital gains tax that they would have to pay if they were to sell the securities and then donate the proceeds.  You can donate securities or mutual funds to HOTT by clicking the Donate button below and selecting “Donate Securities” option.  Charitable tax receipt will be issued by CanadaHelps.org on behalf of HOTT.

Donate Aeroplan Points

You can now donate your Aeroplan Points to HOTT! We can use these points to purchase household items for our residents in need.

For example, blankets or an appliance like a kettle can be purchased for under 20,000 points. You could also donate a meal to one of our residents by donating points towards a food delivery!

Legacy Giving

A legacy gift is the best way for you to potentially make a larger gift while still retaining control of your assets during your lifetime.

There are 3 common legacy gifts:

  1. Through your will

  2. Through life insurance

  3. Through RRSPs and RRIFs

Legacy Giving

#1 – Through your will

Leaving a gift to HOTT in your will is simple.  Either speak to your lawyer, or add a paragraph like this in your handwritten will:

“I give $_____ to support the work of HOTT.

Legal Name: Houses Opening Today Toronto Inc.
Registered Charitable Number: 12802 7703 RR0001
Address:  75 Blantyre Avenue, Toronto, ON, M1N 2R3
Telephone: 416-369-0366

E-mail:  info@hott.ca "

Your estate will receive a charitable tax receipt from HOTT.

#2 – Through Life Insurance

All you need to do is to ask your insurance agent to name HOTT as the beneficiary of an existing life insurance policy.  Your estate will receive a charitable tax receipt for the proceeds of the policy.

Alternatively, you can take out a new policy with HOTT as the owner and beneficiary.  You will receive annual charitable tax receipts for your ongoing premium payments.

#3 – Through RRSPs and RRIFs

You can ask your plan administrator or your financial advisor to name HOTT as the beneficiary of your registered plan.  Your estate will receive a charitable tax receipt to offset any taxes owing when your plan is deregistered.

Thank you for considering a legacy giving to HOTT.  If you decide to donate to HOTT via legacy giving, please be sure to inform us.
